📒 CONFERENCE PROGRAMME
The CIM is where the metrology community: science, industry, universities and quality infrastructure comes together to shape how the world measures and verifies.
This 23rd edition unfolds over 4 days, with parallel sessions addressing today's global challenges: 200+ oral and poster presentations, 5 round tables, workshop on Quantum technologies, a short course on Food Metrology, and a full calendar of networking events.
Below, you'll find the short programme and the full conference schedule ⤵️
The imminent industrialisation of quantum technologies requires a robust metrological framework. Indeed, reliable, objective, and comparable measurements of their characteristics and performance are essential to verify whether they deliver on their promises and to facilitate their adoption by end users. The workshop focuses on key national, European and international initiatives laying the groundwork for a quality assurance system designed to address the specific nature of quantum technologies.
On March 15th, 2027, LNE (Laboratoire national de métrologie et d’essais) along with its partners will host a workshop at CIM, bringing together leading experts in the quantum field as well as key stakeholders from France, Europe, and the international community. Seats are limited. By attending the workshop, you will be able to access the restaurant on Monday.

This OPENING SESSION brings together the Co-Chairs representing Industry and Science, alongside the DGE, TRESCAL as principal sponsor of the Congress, to launch CIM2027 in Lyon. Their exchange will highlight how reliable, comparable measurements underpin industrial innovation, scientific discovery and the technologies of tomorrow. It will set the stage for a week of discussions on how the global metrology community can strengthen confidence in measurement, together.

Metrology for Evidence-Based Policy Making - (De)regulation in the Digital Era: Opportunities and Risks
Think about the last time you filled up your car with gas or you weighted fruit in a grocery. You trusted that when the pump said one litter, you actually got one litter, and the scale showed 1kilogram and you paid indeed for 1 kilogram.
Why?
Because government inspectors legally test and stamp that pump and scale. That is traditional legal metrology—the science of trust in measurements. But today, we live in a world governed by algorithms. AI decides who gets a mortgage, facial recognition decides who passes through airport security, and automated code protects our critical power grids from cyberattacks. So here is the multi-billion-dollar question:
- Who is checking the digital gas pump and the scale?
- How do we measure if an AI is fair, secure, or easily hacked?
Today, we have brought together the world's leading minds in AI and cybersecurity, law, and measurement science to demystify how we protect you in the digital age.
